The best Health is when you have plenty of energy to live your life the way you want to live. This is the currency we as a culture tend to sacrifice the most in pursuit of money or $tuff.
The Dali Lama has said “man” is confusing because, “…sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.” It’s common for someone to skip a meal if too busy or pull an all-nighter to get something done- a lack of time currency is made up for by spending health currency because the outcome is presumably of great importance. This currency is often gravely undervalued.
Trading health currency looks like many things. At the apex of trading health currency is breastfeeding: mothers give of their health to nourish their children which also builds strong, connected relationships between them. Trading your energy when helping a friend move is another trade for relationship currency. Getting paid to help someone move is a trade for money. Every time you put energy into something so you don’t have to do it later is trading for time. Investing energy in growing food is a trade for better health.
